Most Anticipated F1 Season?

With the first race of the season a little under 2 weeks away, excitement is building for what may be the most anticipated season in F1 history.

For the first time ever there be a total of 6 world champions, more than in any other season. With Kimi Raikkonen marking his return to the sport, the drivers' line-up is perhaps more star studded than ever before which means there are a host of drivers that could win the title.

Firstly you have the current champion Sebastian Vettel who was so utterly dominant last season, he will be aiming to become only the 3rd man to win 3 world titles in a row. The pressure will be on the young German to replicate his outstanding form of last year, not least from his Red Bull team mate Mark Webber who will have major point to prove after a somewhat disappointing season last year. Then you have McLaren's British duo in Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, after all the car nightmares of last year, they'll be hoping to pose much more of a threat from the start of the season.

Ferrari will be under huge pressure to deliver following last years struggles, for a team who usually have a major say in the championship, they would have been very disappointed to be so far behind the Red Bulls and will be determined to get amongst the top 2 this season. You then have the Mercedes team where Nico Rosberg has outperformed the great Michael Schumacher 2 years in a row. Schumacher being the big competitor that he is, will be keen to hit back at his critics and prove to the world that he is the best of all time and justify his reasons for coming out of retirement.

Then you've got the so called rest of the pack, however there is a wildcard in the form of Lotus's Kimi Raikkonen. The Finish driver can never be ruled out and although Lotus aren't classed as one of the 'great teams', don't be surprised if Raikkonen is punching above his weight come the end of the season. Amongst the rest of teams are young up and coming drivers such as Britain's Paul De Resta and Bruno Senna of course the nephew of the legendary Ayrton Senna. Who knows, one of these young drivers may surprise everyone and compete for the title, everyone has to start somewhere.

So this season promises to be an enthralling one, with many twist and turns along the way and perhaps the most open title race in living memory. Whatever happens, it should be one hell of a ride.
